April 21, 2020 - The car is home in my garage now,  John has completed all the painting and it is now up to me to complete the assembly and finish.  Still a lot to do, but now that I am retired,  I can chip away at the remaining task list. Some things are yet to be farmed out to others,  mainly the glass installation.  Installing the Vbent windshield has proven to be a bigger task than anticipated and I am going to have to Mr. Go Glass to install it.  First attempts by John and Skeeter were unsuccessful.

December 29, 2016 - John has been blocking the body, getting ready for paint.  Shot a fresh coat of black primer and tells me that it is straight!!  Looking forward to getting the body and frame bolted back together soon!!

April 23, 2016 - Long time since I updated...  John continues body work, at times it is difficult for him to find time due to his full time commitments to P&G, Teresa's chickens, health issues in the family and other things that come up...  I appreciate all his hard work and patience.  Good friends like John are hard to come by.

Feb 1, 2015 - I have searched high and low for a rear fender to make a patch panel from without success.   John got his sand bag and mallet out and started forming patches for the fender...  He has an amazing talent and had the corner of the right rear fender formed and welded in.   I am amazed how quickly he got it done.   I've said before,  but worth repeating,  John is THE MAN!!

Jan 2, 2015 - Happy New Year!!  I was on vacation between Christmas and New Year holidays and got over to John's shop to help out for a few days...  We made some progress,  lining up the doors,  bolting the fenders and running boards on for final fit and body work...  John made a patch for the passenger side fender where it meets the running board.   Also working the rear fenders to get some more tire clearance...  Need to get about 3/4 inch more on each side to clear those Mickeys...  :  )

May 26, 2014 - Fresh back from Crusin Ocean City car show and a week of much needed vacation...  Had a great time with the Family,  all the kids and grandkids were here and it was really a lot of fun.   We miss our kids and grandkids so much,  that every moment we spend together is precious!!  We have a wonderful family!!

March 22, 2014 - Spring is finally here!!   What a winter.  Glad it is over!!  Work on the 37 frame is going great!  See the updates on Page 21.  John is doing an awesome job on the brake lines and the exhaust...   He will be finishing them up next week and will be moving on to the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel line installation...  I will be purchasing the wheels and tires in the next few days.  We will get a measurement for a driveshaft and I will get one ordered...  Soon we will be getting the body ready for marriage to the frame...  Can't wait to see it and hear it run...  Whoo hoo!!

Dec 31, 2013 - Finally got around to snapping a few pics of the black 72 short bed pickup I purchased this spring...  I haven't done a whole lot to it yet.  I put power brakes on (a must) and since the steering column had a bad bearing,  I put an Ididit tilt column in with a chrome steering wheel and horn kit...  I also put a floor shifter in to get rid of the column linkage that was not to reliable...   It's a 350 engine and 350 Turbo trans with a kit...  The bed sides are new as well as the cross sills... Looks great underneath,  the whole back half of the truck has been redone and frame painted...   It has dropped spindles and drop springs in the rear.  Magnaflow exhaust that has to go soon!!   I will run duals out the back with turbo mufflers like on the 69...  I bought an oak kit and stainless strips/bolts for the bed and I might get started changing that stuff tomorrow...   The engine needs to be pulled and gone through...  It runs great since I put in the HEI,  but it smokes at start up and uses some oil...   When I pull it, I will likely pop in a mild cam like what I did for the 69...    On the 37 chevy project,  John should have the frame painted,  he was going to spray it last Saturday when I visited.   Then assembly of the suspension...   Looking real good and Vicki and I anxious to take it for the maiden voyage!!   Yeah!!

Sept 15, 2013 - John is making progress on the body work.  A few more tweaks and it will be ready for the next primer coat (black) and we are anxious to see what it will look like as the final color will be black and this will be a real teaser for us...  We are anxious to ride in it!!   Endless Summer cruizin will be the second week of October.  We will take the 72 short bed to that event...  Looking forward to the relaxation and getting away from work for a few days...  Vicki is also looking forward to it.  Her recent surgery is improving and she is in a lot less pain.  Things are looking up!!

May 19, 2013 - Just back from Crusin Ocean City and man was it a blast!!  The weather was great up until Saturday afternoon when the bottom fell out... Rained all night and it cleared up some Sunday morning in time to load up for the trip back home.  We've registered for the Endless Summer show in October and also for next year's Crusin show in May!!   Can't wait...   Got another project.  I bought a 72 short bed pickup (with a 70 front clip).  I've been eyeballing it for a while and it finally came up for sale.  The body is in a lot better shape than my 69,  so the best of both will go with the short bed and I will back burner the 69 for the future...  I will work on the 72 next,  once the 37 is done and tagged...

April 11, 2013 - Some new stuff to report.  John is winning in his battle with the suicide doors.  He has really put forth a lot of effort to get them hung!!   He came up with a system to pin them to the hinges because he's had to take them on and off so many times...  Other news is that I've ordered some more stuff including ElectricLife power windows for the one piece glass,  12 channel keyless remote with electric bear claw latches and door poppers.  Also electric trunk release...  I also ordered all the glass from Street Rod Glass company.  I ordered a one piece Vbent windshield and all the other glass and gaskets...  Some of gaskets showed up today,  they were drop shipped from Steele Rubber products...  Check out the latest pictures on Page 18...

January 4, 2013 - Happy New Year!!   Well,  I am totally out of available pages.  So,  I had to delete pages 2 through 6 and I put in a new page 1, revision 1 which is a compliation of some of the older shots that have been on here for a while...   I also deleted all the stuff related to the Gbody subframe that I removed after deciding not to use it...  Check out the new page 1 and also the latest pics from John's shop as he works on the suicide door installation.  Those are on page 17...

December 18, 2012 - Well only 3 days left until the Mayan prediction of the end...   We all know it was a bunch of hype anyway...   So,  John is making good progress on the installation of the suicide door hinges.  Hopefully,  the sandbasting will be taking place soon and then primer...  Vicki and I are getting excited!!  Really looking forward to spring and the maiden voyage!!

November 10, 2012  -  John has the body off the frame now.  He will be prepping the bottom side of the body for primer and paint.  There is still some fabricating to do on the bulkhead behind the seat area.  John is waiting to finish that up after the sandblaster does the inside of roof and trunk areas.   He started filling the latch and hinge holes in the door jams to prep for installation of the suicide door hinges and bear claw latches...  And,  he will have the frame sandblasted at when the other blasting is done.  So,  the suspension has to come off the frame to do the rest of the grinding and prep work...  I am getting really excited to see it getting closer to installation of the running gear...  Can't wait!!

May 24, 2012  -  John has been busy using naval jelly rust remover and lots of elbow grease getting the body ready for primer.  He also has been working on the transmission tunnel and floors.   Lots of new things to report.  I ordered a different steering column and steering wheel,  DD shaft and ujoints.   Also ordered a Kugel pedal assy that mounts inside under the dash with 90 degree pedals to keep the firewall clean.  I decided I didn't want to have the booster sticking in the engine compartment...  Another thing to report is that I got the 69 truck tagged after a few obstacles...  Had the engine in and out twice in one week,  Pulled it because I had low oil pressure at idle and ended up putting in a new cast steel standard journal crank...  Runs good now and oil pressure is great.

Feb 25,  2012  -  Visit to John's shop and check the installation of the recessed firewall.  John was working on it today and had it cleco fastened into place...  Got a message from him this afternoon the it is welded in place now...    Skeeter was working on the driver's side quarter patch...  See the pics on Page 12...

Feb 19,  2012  -  Uncrated the Smeding 383 Stroker engine and bolted on a bunch of accessory stuff.  Still need a few things like the water neck,  chrome breather,  air cleaner and I still need to flip it over and put on my chrome oil pan...  But it is looking great!!

New Year and plans...   Full speed ahead on the 37.   John was able to clear his plate and is now working on the 37 as a primary focus.   I have delivered the body and frame to his shop along with many other of the pieces needed...   I've ordred a recessed firewall and many of the other small items needed,  lights,  trim,  etc...  I am really excited about this and so is Vicki...   Stay tuned!!
